# COD Fee Missing on an Order? Full Troubleshooting Checklist

Your fee is enabled, most orders get it, but one order (or a group of orders) came in without the additional Cash on Delivery fee. Work through this checklist in order, it covers the causes from most to least common.
## ${color}[#090606](1. Was the order prepaid?)
The fee is only added to Cash on Delivery orders. Orders paid with a card, PayPal, a wallet, or any other prepaid method never receive the fee. Open the order in Shopify and check the payment method first.

## ${color}[#040101](2. Have you reached your monthly order limit?)
When your plan's monthly allowance is reached (60 orders on Free, 360 on Premium), the app stops adding fees until you upgrade or a new cycle starts. Check the progress card on the app **Dashboard**. You also received warning emails at 85% and 100% of the limit.

## ${color}[#100e0e](3. Is the fee switched on, and is your store on the right variant?)
Check the fee toggle on **Fee settings**. If it is off, no order gets the fee, no matter how everything else is configured. Also confirm which setup your store uses: on the standard (line-item) setup the fee shows as its own line item on the order; on the shipping-rates setup, the fee is charged as a shipping rate instead, so it will never appear as a line item even when everything is working correctly.

## ${color}[#030202](4. Is this a Partial Payment order?)
Orders placed with a deposit through Partial Payment do not get the regular COD fee line item. Instead, they get a single "Pay on Delivery" line that already includes the remaining balance plus the Partial Payment fee, if you configured one. If the order you are checking used a deposit at checkout, look at the Partial Payment fee setting instead of the main COD fee.

## ${color}[#030202](5. Was the COD payment method renamed?)
The app matches orders by the exact name of the payment method you selected during setup. If you renamed your COD method in Shopify (for example to add the fee amount to its name) and did not re-select it in the app, the match breaks silently and fees stop.
Fix: open **Fee settings**, go to step 2, click **Refresh payment methods**, and select your current COD method again.

## ${color}[#030202](6. Could Shopify not edit the order?)
The app adds the fee through Shopify's order edit system, and Shopify refuses edits on some orders:
* cancelled orders
* orders with an invalid shipping or billing address
* orders using local delivery as the shipping method
If the order matches one of these, the fee was skipped by Shopify's rules, not by a misconfiguration.

## ${color}[#0a0505](7. Does the order already contain a line item named like your fee)
The app never adds the fee twice. It skips any order that already contains a line item with the exact same name as your configured fee name. This protects you from duplicates, but it also means a product in your store named exactly like the fee will block the fee on orders that contain it.

## ${color}[#0a0000](8. Do you use per-market fees?)
If **Set a different fee per market** is enabled and the customer's market has a rule set to **No fee**, the missing fee is your own configuration working as intended. Check the per-market table on the **Fee settings** page.

## ${color}[#080303](9. Do you have a custom restriction?)
Some stores have custom rules applied by our support team (no fee above a certain total, no fee for specific countries or provinces, no fee for pickup orders). If you requested a customization in the past, it may cover the order you are looking at. Ask us in chat if you are not sure what is configured on your store.

## ${color}[#0a0000](Still missing? Two things to know)

1. The app does not retry a failed fee. An order that missed the fee stays without it. You can add the fee manually with Shopify's order edit, or contact support with the order number and we can reprocess it.
2. If fees are missing on many orders since a specific date, the cause is almost always item 2 (limit) or item 5 (renamed payment method). Both take one minute to fix, and new orders get the fee immediately after.
