How to Disable Automatic Event Tracking on Your Facebook Pixel Without Code

By default, Facebook’s automatic event tracking detects customer interactions on your store and sends data to your Facebook Pixel, even if you haven’t manually added event tracking code. However, if you prefer full control over event tracking, you can disable this feature directly from your Meta Business Manager without modifying your store’s code.

This guide walks you through the steps to disable automatic event tracking for your Facebook Pixel.

Step 1: Open Events Manager in Meta Business Manager

Log in to your Meta Business Manager account.
Open the Events Manager section.

Step 2: Navigate to Data Sources

In the left-hand sidebar, click on Data Sources.

Step 3: Open Your Pixel Settings

Find and select the Facebook Pixel that is connected to your store.
Click on the Settings tab.

Step 4: Disable Automatic Event Tracking

Scroll down to the section labeled "Track Events Automatically Without Code."
Toggle this option OFF to prevent Facebook from tracking customer actions automatically.

Note: If this option is already disabled, no further action is required.

Step 5: Confirm and Save Changes

Once you have turned off automatic event tracking, your Facebook Pixel will only track events that you have manually configured through the Facebook Events Manager or custom code on your store.

Your pixel setup is now optimized to track only the events you choose.

Why Disable Automatic Event Tracking?

Prevents duplicate event tracking, which can lead to inaccurate data.
Gives you full control over which events are tracked and when.
Reduces unwanted tracking, ensuring only relevant interactions are recorded.
