# How to Exclude Percentage Discount Codes from Being Applied to the Additional COD Fee in Shopify

If you're using Releasit to apply a Cash on Delivery (COD) fee on your Shopify store, percentage-based discount codes that apply to all products might also reduce the COD fee. To prevent this, you can configure Shopify to exclude the COD fee from percentage discounts by following the steps in this guide.

This method uses Shopify's collections and discount targeting to ensure that percentage discounts are applied only to specific products, excluding the additional fee item used for COD.

# Step-by-Step Guide

### Step 1: Create a New Collection

* In your **Shopify admin**, go to **Products > Collections**
* Click on **Create collection**

### Step 2: Configure the Collection Settings

* Under **Collection type**, select **Automated**

* **Uncheck the option Online store** under **Sales channels** so the collection is not publicly visible

### Step 3: Set the Collection Conditions

* Use the following condition to include only products where **Title is not equal** to your fee product name (e.g., “COD Fee”):

* This ensures the fee product is excluded from this collection.

### Step 4: Save the Collection

* Click **Save** to create the collection.

### Step 5: Update Your Discount Codes

To ensure discount codes don’t apply to your fee:

* Delete any existing percentage discount codes that are applied to “All products”

* You can keep other types of discounts

### Step 6: Create New Percentage Discount Codes (with Conditions)

1. Go to **Discounts** in Shopify and create a new **Amount off products discount**

2. Set it as a percentage discount

3. Under **Applies to**, select the collection you just created (which excludes the fee product)

4. **Save** the new discount
