How to Integrate Omnisend with Releasit to Recover Abandoned Orders via Email
Integrating Omnisend with Releasit COD Form & Upsells allows you to automatically send abandoned order recovery emails to customers who left their checkout incomplete. This setup helps bring back potential buyers and increases your chances of order completion.
📌 Important: This tutorial involves a third-party integration, so Releasit support cannot assist with Omnisend-related issues. Follow each step carefully, and refer to Omnisend support if needed.
If you haven’t already installed Omnisend, you can get it from the Shopify App Store here:
👉 Install Omnisend
Install the Omnisend app on your Shopify store.
Create an Omnisend account or log in to your existing one.
Click on your account name at the top-right of Omnisend.
Select Store Settings.

Go to API Keys and click on Create API Key.


Configure the API Key permissions as shown in the screenshot below.
Click Save.

Copy the generated API Key.
Open the Releasit app.
Navigate to Sales Booster > Abandoned Cart.
Paste the Omnisend API Key into the provided field.



Click Save.
In Releasit, click on Send Test Event to check the connection.

If everything is set up correctly, Omnisend will receive the event.
Open Omnisend and go to Automations.
Click Create Workflow and select Abandoned Checkout.


In the Trigger Settings, select Releasit Abandoned Event as the event that starts the workflow.

Under Trigger Filters, disable the option Trigger Inactivity Time.

Add an email block to your workflow.
Modify the email design based on your brand’s style.
Recommendation: Use only one email in the workflow to avoid sending too many reminders.

Click on the "Complete Order" button in the email template.
Change the URL action to [[event.recovery_url]].

When a customer clicks "Complete Order", they will be redirected to the exact point where they abandoned the checkout on your COD form.
Activate the workflow in Omnisend.
Test the setup by abandoning a test order in Releasit and checking if an email is sent.
Automates follow-ups with potential customers.

Step 1: Install Omnisend and Create an Account
If you haven’t already installed Omnisend, you can get it from the Shopify App Store here:

Step 2: Generate an API Key in Omnisend
Click on your account name at the top-right of Omnisend.
Select Store Settings.

Go to API Keys and click on Create API Key.


Configure the API Key permissions as shown in the screenshot below.
Click Save.

Step 3: Connect Omnisend to Releasit
Open the Releasit app.
Navigate to Sales Booster > Abandoned Cart.
Paste the Omnisend API Key into the provided field.



Click Save.
Step 4: Send a Test Event from Releasit
In Releasit, click on Send Test Event to check the connection.

If everything is set up correctly, Omnisend will receive the event.
Step 5: Create an Abandoned Order Recovery Workflow in Omnisend
Open Omnisend and go to Automations.
Click Create Workflow and select Abandoned Checkout.
