How to Track Campaign Performance Using UTM Parameters in Releasit
UTM tracking is a useful method to understand where your traffic is coming from and how well your marketing campaigns are performing. In this guide, you’ll learn what UTMs are, how to add them to your ads, and how to track and view them inside the Releasit app.
UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) parameters are tags added to the end of a URL. These parameters help you identify the source, medium, and campaign associated with a specific link.
https://www.example.com/product?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=summer_sale
utm_source=facebook → where the traffic is coming from
utm_medium=social → the type of traffic (e.g. social, email, cpc)
utm_campaign=summer_sale → the name of the campaign
When used consistently, UTMs make it easier to see which platforms and ads are generating orders.
Open the Releasit COD Form & Upsells app
Go to the Analytics page
You’ll find UTM data for your tracked orders displayed there:

Facebook
While creating your ad, scroll to the Website URL field
Click Build a URL Parameter

Fill in the UTM fields:
Campaign Source: e.g., facebook
Campaign Medium: e.g., facebook_feed
Campaign Name: use a name that identifies the specific campaign

Use a free tool like https://utmbuilder.net/ to create a UTM-enabled link
Fill in:
Website URL: your product or landing page
UTM Source: e.g., tiktok
UTM Medium: e.g., main_feed
UTM Campaign: a name to help identify your campaign

Copy the generated link and paste it into your TikTok ad

To ensure UTM data is saved on each order:
Open the Releasit app
Go to Settings & Integrations > General
Enable the option to save UTMs on orders

Once enabled, Releasit will attach UTM data to new orders when available.
Open any order made through the Releasit form in Shopify
Scroll to the Additional details section
There, you’ll see the saved UTM data:

If no UTM data appears, the customer likely did not arrive through a URL containing UTM parameters.
UTMs help identify which channels bring the most orders
Always use consistent naming across your campaigns
Make sure UTMs are correctly set before publishing ads
If you need help setting up UTM tracking, reach out to Releasit support directly from the app.
