Releasit COD Fee Plans & Monthly Order Limits Explained

Releasit COD Fee & Partial Pay has three plans. Every feature is available on every plan, including the Free plan. The plans differ in how many Cash on Delivery orders the app processes for you each month, and in the support channel you get. This article explains the plans, which orders count toward your limit, what exactly happens when you reach it, and how upgrades and downgrades affect your counter.

You can see and change your plan on the Billing plans page in the app menu. All charges are handled securely by Shopify Billing. You can cancel at any time by uninstalling the app.

Which orders count toward the limit

Only orders the app actually processes count:

  • COD orders that receive the fee or an automation (auto-tag, auto-capture)
  • Orders governed by your active Limit COD rules
  • All Partial Payment orders

Prepaid orders that are not Cash on Delivery do not count. Cancelled and refunded orders are not subtracted automatically. If a large number of your counted orders were cancelled, contact support and we can review your counter.

Warnings before you reach the limit

You receive two automatic emails, at 85% and at 100% of your limit. They are sent to the email address on your account (check your Spam folder if you cannot find them). The Dashboard also shows a progress card, and the Billing plans page shows a usage badge that turns red as you approach the limit.

What happens at the limit

When you reach your monthly allowance:

  1. New COD orders stop receiving the fee. The last order inside the allowance still gets it.
  2. Your Limit COD rules stop working, so Cash on Delivery becomes visible everywhere again.
  3. The Partial Payment popup stops appearing on your storefront. The toggle in the app still shows Enabled, the feature is suspended automatically.
  4. The checkout and Thank You page fee blocks stop showing the fee, since there is no fee left to display.

Important: your store keeps selling normally. Nothing blocks your checkout and no orders are lost. What you lose is the fee revenue and the COD control until you upgrade or a new cycle starts. OTP verification is not affected by the order limit, it depends only on your message balance.
Everything reactivates automatically as soon as you upgrade.

Upgrades, downgrades, and your counter

  • Upgrades apply immediately after you approve the charge in Shopify Billing.
  • Your usage carries over on upgrade. If you were at 60/60 on Free, you continue at 60/360 on Premium. Upgrading raises the ceiling, it does not reset the counter.
  • Downgrading to Free applies immediately. Plan your downgrade for a period when your monthly COD volume fits inside the Free limit, otherwise the app will stop processing your orders when you hit it.
  • Your usage counter only resets to zero on a downgrade to Free if 30 days or more have passed since your last plan change. If it has been less than 30 days, your counter carries over just like on an upgrade, it does not reset.
  • There is currently no free trial on any plan.

${color}[rgb(var(--black))](Frequently asked questions)

  • When does my counter reset?

The allowance follows your subscription cycle, not the calendar month. If you need the exact date for your account, contact support and we will check it for you.

  • I upgraded but my usage still shows the old number.

That is correct behavior, see above. Your limit is higher, your usage continues.

  • I downgraded to Free and my counter did not reset.

That is correct if it has been less than 30 days since your last plan change. The counter only resets on a downgrade when 30 days or more have passed.

  • I reached the limit and missed the emails. Can you add the fee to the skipped orders?

The app does not add fees retroactively on its own. Contact support with the order numbers and we will see what can be done.
